Clinical Psychologist
MPsych (clinical, BA Psychology (Honours)
I am a Clinical Psychologist with an interest in working with people across the lifespan (children, right through to older adulthood). I have experience working within acute mental health settings and other Government services providing treatment for depression, anxiety, panic, trauma related disorders, addiction, and personality disorders. Working within a hospital setting I also have experience working with individuals and carers who are grappling with medical diagnoses such as cancer, stroke, Alzheimer’s, and a range of other medical presentations.
Beyond diagnoses, I prefer to see the client as an individual who through their life circumstances finds themselves in a place where they are in need of extra support to work through the ‘messiness’ of life. Using an attachment based perspective that takes into account prior experiences and relational templates formed with early caregivers, that is also trauma informed, I work with clients to identify how their experiences in conjunction with present life circumstances contributes to their mental wellbeing.
I make use of therapeutic models such as Schema Focused Therapy (SFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT). I also am trained in the use of Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). Above all, I strive to be client-centred in my approach and pride myself on creating a space that is warm, non-judgmental, and collaborative.
